Crafting Perfect Photos: A Deep Dive

April 18th, 2025

Photography is an art filled with limitless possibilities. You might be wondering, how can you achieve great photos? Let's explore that a bit further.

One of the key aspects to capture stunning photos is understanding what you, the subject, are seeking from the session. This understanding is not just limited to the type of session; be it a family gathering, an in-home newborn shoot, or a studio newborn shoot. It goes beyond that.

A conversation of depth can work wonders in bringing forth the vision you have in mind. This shared understanding then acts as a compass, guiding the photographic journey we embark on together.

Another crucial element is the time of day for the shoot. The ideal time hinges upon the kind of light you want in your photos and the location of the shoot. For instance, if we are conducting a session in your home, it's essential to understand how the light filters in at different times of the day. You can share some pictures of your home at various times to help me get a sense of the lighting. On the other hand, if we are doing an outdoor session, the glowy light that paints the sky 1 to 2 hours before sunset is ideal.

Once we've established the where and when, my focus shifts to analyzing the light and adjusting my camera settings accordingly. This is especially vital when photographing high-energy children; the shutter speed needs to be just right to capture their lively moments perfectly.

Above all, the most important thing: have fun! Be present in the moment and immerse yourself in the experience. If you're unsure of what to do, don't fret. With my years of experience, I am here to guide you every step of the way.

Remember, this is a shared journey, and I got you!

This was a fantastic day with Stephanie and her family. I love capturing families. If you are looking for an photographer in the Hamilton, Burlington and surrounding area, I hope you give me the opportunity to work with you
