There are some families that just settle into each other so naturally, and the McConachie family is one of them. From the very first frame, it was clear how deeply connected they are — how much love flows between them in the quietest, most tender ways.

 

We met at Red Hill Creek in Hamilton on a warm summer evening, with golden light filtering through the trees and the soft hum of nature all around us. It was the kind of setting that invites you to slow down, breathe deeper, and just be together.

 

Their daughter, graceful and gentle, with a quiet strength beyond her years. Their son, curious and full of life, always reaching for mom or dad’s hand as we wandered through the forest trails. And in between — soft laughter, spontaneous hugs, a glance, a squeeze, a barefoot adventure on the creek rocks.

 

Mum wore a flowing off-the-shoulder dress by Myrtle and Moss that moved beautifully in the breeze and added to the earthy, romantic feel of the session. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like a summer memory being written in real time.

 

We spent our time wandering through overgrown paths, dancing by the bridge, and dipping our toes into the cool water — but more importantly, we focused on what matters most: their connection. Not the perfect pose, but the way they hold each other, how they laugh, how they love.

 

Because if there’s one thing that’s true about parenting — it’s how fast it all goes. One moment, you're chasing giggles in the forest… the next, you're wondering where the time went.

This session was a gentle reminder of why I do what I do. To freeze time, just for a moment. To give families something they can hold onto when the days feel like a blur.
